Professional Experience
His areas of practice include trial and appellate level work in the areas of Criminal Defense, Matrimonial and Family Law.
He earned an Applied Associates Degree in criminal justice from Broome Community College in 1995, and a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), cum laude, in Public Justice from SUNY Oswego in 1997. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Garzo was employed as investigator for the Broome County Child Support Enforcement Unit.
He received his law degree from Albany Law School in 2002. While in law school he clerked for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office and the Consumer Frauds Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Upon graduating from Law School, Mr. Garzo obtained an Associate position with the Law Firm Coughlin and Gerhart, L.L.P.
In 2004 Mr. Garzo left Coughlin and Gerhart and joined the Broome County District Attorney’s Office. He worked for the District attorney until 2010. From 2010 to present Mr. Garzo has been in private practice focusing on Criminal Defense and Family Court Practice. He has represented, and assisted hundreds of individuals accused of crimes, including individuals accused of Murder, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Weapons charges and Arson.
Mr. Garzo had the opportunity and pleasure of serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1991 and received an Honorable Discharge. He is a life-long resident of Broome County.
He is a member of the New York State Defenders Association. He enjoys spending time with his family and practicing jiu jitsu at Broome County Martial Arts.
